Saint-Gobain’s Boron Nitride facility houses a state-of-the-art machine and tool job shop dedicated to made-to-order, high-precision parts using Combat® Boron Nitride Machinable Ceramics available in a variety of grades to meet diverse customer applications. Combat, a hot pressed hexagonal Boron Nitride, exhibits a unique combination of electrical, mechanical, chemical and thermal properties. Easy machinability, exceptional heat and thermal shock resistance, outstanding electrical insulation, high wet-resistance and extreme corrosion / wear resistance are the properties that make it uniquely suitable for a wide variety of uses such as crucibles, break rings, insulators, and nozzles in high-performance industrial applications.
We supply “lumber” or “blanks”, as rods, bars and even as full-sized billets to customers or value-added-resellers that have in-house capabilities to machine the components. For the customers not equipped with Boron Nitride machining expertise, we provide a complete solution from consultation, design and prototype all the way to production quantities.
The complex and intricate shapes custom-made to very tight tolerances (up to ± 0.001 in.) to meet each individual customer’s specific needs often require a high degree of capability in several machining disciplines. Due to our more than 50 years of experience, our customers rely heavily on our expertise to understand and control critical variables that can affect part production.
