Idealube® Boron Nitride Lubricant Additives are hexagonal boron nitride powders (BN) with lamellar structures similar to graphite. In addition, Idealube BN lubricant additives are electrically insulating, are unmatched in thermal conductivity, have low coefficients of friction and oxidation resistance at high temperatures (up to 900°C), and are naturally white. Compared to other solid lubricants, only Idealube has this unique combination of properties, making them the perfect solution for the most challenging applications.
In applications involving moving parts, heat dissipation and wear resistance can mean success or failure of a design. Idealube® BN lubricant additives offer the solutions in most extreme operating conditions other solid lubricants such as graphite, MoS2 or PTFE fail. With the growing demand for lubricants with improved heat dissipation, better wear rates and oxidation resistance, Idealube Boron Nitride is the solution that leads to less frequency of lubrication, lower lubricant usage and less downtime.
Idealube® additives are used in a wide range of applications such as food processing equipment, high-temperature greases and oils, anti-seize compounds, dielectric greases, release agent for gaskets and seals and many more.
The following grades of Idealube® Boron Nitride are NSF® HX-1 Certified. These are acceptable as an ingredient up to 40% by weight for use in lubricants with incidental food contact (HX-1) for use in and around food processing areas. Such compounds may be used in food processing equipment as a protective anti-rust film, as a release agent on gaskets or seals of tank closures, and as a lubricant for machine parts and equipment in locations where there is potential exposure of the lubricated part to food.

Available in a broad range of particle sizes from sub-micron to 30 microns, Idealube® platelet powder grades are NSF Certified and registered in the category code HX-1. Idealube platelet grades are acceptable as an ingredient up to 40% by weight for use in lubricants with incidental food contact (HX-1) for use in and around food processing areas. Idealube platelet powders may be used in food processing equipment as chain and gear lubricants, a release agent on gaskets or seals of tank closures, as a lubricant for machine parts and equipment in locations where there is potential exposure of the lubricated part to food.
Idealube® 1000 series powders (IDL1000, IDL2000 and IDL3000) are high purity and densified hBN, comprised of many BN platelets packed in dense blocky shapes, Idealube agglomerates are flowable similar to a fine sand, are robust and resist breakage in processing or application. Thanks to their blocky and dense configuration, IDL agglomerates are easily incorporated into metal matrix composites such as brake pad compositions to efficiently dissipate heat, modify friction and wear characteristics leading to reduced noise and chatter (vibration). IDL high density agglomerates are also used in thermal spray compositions for abradable coatings.
